VALIDITY MEASUREMENTS
Validity Measurements of sportsDrive

All 16 dimensions are covered in the SPI Advanced. The SPI provides highly reliable and valid results. To be more precise, the SPI advanced is shown to be a consistent measuring instrument (α = .96). Moreover, meaningful relationships to other sport-specific motivation tests can be demonstrated, p. ex. the Sport Orientation Questionnaire, SOQ (Gill & Deeter, 1988). The measuring aim of the SOQ is similar though less extensive then the SPI solutions, being comprised of three distinct scales – competitive, goal and win orientation. The correlation with this test is, as supposed to be, in a medium range (r = .57). First and foremost, the SPI advanced can predict important athlete outcomes and results like training duration (r = .37), self-rated success in sports (r = .46) and actual sports performance in various sports (marathon time with r = -.21) – over and above other sports-specific measurements.

These 16 dimensions include various internal and external motivational influences. Combining these key areas can paint a powerful portrait of what type of athlete you are and help you understand what areas of development will be key in reaching your athletic goals.
